Capital Punishment Hallowe’en Special

It’s the Hallowe’en special on tonight’s Capital Punishment. Sure, the holiday may be officially over, but the trickin’ and treatin’ aren’t (hey, Congress is still in session.) We’ll hear about ghosts, werewolves, zombies and other monsters from the likes of Frank Zappa, Ghoultown, Nekromantix, the Fuzztones and Nick Cave. The quality of the music alone is guaranteed to frighten you out of your wits, so I hope you can join us tonight at 9 pm Eastern, 8 pm Central and 6 pm Pacific, repeat at midnight/11 pm/9 pm and again Sunday at 9 am/8 am and 6 am.

Cowpunk on Tonight’s Capital Punishment

It’s the Cowpunk* show on tonight’s Capital Punishment. We’ll hear alternative bands with a “country” music tinge, including Jason and the Scorchers, Rev. Horton Heat, Geardaddies and Rank & File, plus a bunch of bands with “Cowboy” or “Rodeo” in their name. Line dancing is optional.

Is this really “country” music? How would I know – I’m from Brooklyn, and consider New Jersey to be the country. Anyway, I hope you can join us tonight at 9 pm Eastern, 8 pm Central and 6 pm Pacific, repeat at midnight/11 pm/9 pm and again Sunday at 9 am/8 am and 6 am.

Hey You Kids Get Off My Lawn on CP

It’s another Hey You Kids Get Off My Lawn show on tonight’s Capital Punishment, where we’ll play recent tunes from contemporary alternative bands such as Metric, Chvrches (their misspelling), Blondfire, the Raveonettes and Little Green Cars. Hear why we think The Kids Are Alright – wait, that was a different generation – tonight at 9 pm Eastern, 8 pm Central and 6 pm Pacific, repeat at midnight/11 pm/9 pm and again Sunday at 9 am/8 am and 6 am.

Heavy Metal Parking Spot on Tonight’s CP

Tonight’s Capital Punishment episode is called Heavy Metal Parking Spot. As discerning listeners know, “metal” is a musical genre that’s loud, fast, gloomy and incoherent, and this show is all that. We’ll include all the major subgenres, including heavy, thrash, hair and speed along with my current fave, Scandinavian Death Metal.

I hope you can join us for the musical equivalent of an Ingmar Bergman film, minus the profundity, silence or lingonberries, tonight at 9 pm Eastern, 8 pm Central and 6 pm Pacific, repeat at midnight/11 pm/9 pm and again Sunday at 9 am/8 am and 6 am.

Into the 80s on Tonight’s CP

Tonight’s Capital Punishment is called Into the 80s, so of course we’ll be hearing tunage from that best-ever decade by such alternative artists as Fatal Charm, the Fuzztones, the Spongetones, Arrogance, Don Dixon and Marti Jones. I’ll give a gold star to the listener(s) who can identify the connections among the last three without checking Wikipedia. And if it makes a difference, none of the songs are in the Flashback Alternatives library.

I hope you can join us tonight at 9 pm Eastern, 8 pm Central and 6 pm Pacific, repeat at midnight/11 pm/9 pm and again Sunday at 9 am/8 am and 6 am.

Tonight’s CP

Tonight’s Capital Punishment show is an eclectic mess mix of various bands spanning multiple decades. This will be the first and last time in the entire history of the universe that such artists as Johnny Cash, Johnny Winter, Frank Zappa and Bowling for Soup will ever be played in proximity to each other, plus we’ll have a Britney Spears tune covered punk-style to complete the horror.

I hope you can join us for this landmark event tonight at 9 pm Eastern, 8 pm Central and 6 pm Pacific, repeat at midnight/11 pm/9 pm and again Sunday at 9 am/8 am and 6 am.

Total Cover Up on Tonight’s Capital Punishment

It’s another Total Cover Up show on tonight’s Capital Punishment. We’ll play cover versions of songs originally performed by two iconic 80s alternative bands, Depeche Mode and Sisters of Mercy. There will be metal-style treatment of Goth songs, Goth-style versions of synthpop songs and the occasional straight-up delivery. With the likes of bands named Conflict, Pain, Crematory, In Flames and Cradle of Filth we can expect . . . well, something different.

I hope you can join us tonight at 9 pm Eastern, 8 pm Central and 6 pm Pacific, repeat at midnight/11 pm/9 pm and again Sunday at 9 am/8 am and 6 am.
