Ghouls Just Wanna Have Fun on Tonight’s CP

It’s the Hallowe’en show on tonight’s Capital Punishment. We’ll celebrate my favorite holiday with depraved tunes from the likes of Creepshow, Leibach, the Fleshtones, Raveonettes, the Misfits and (of course) Hillbilly Moon Explosion. Plus Ministry playing that song, but a version you haven’t heard before. No matter whether the genre is goth, industrial or psychobilly*, tonight’s songs prove that Ghouls Just Wanna Have Fun.

I hope you can join us tonight at 9 pm Eastern, 8 pm Central and 6 pm Pacific, repeat at midnight/11 pm/9 pm and again Sunday at 9 am/8 am and 6 am.

Bob Dylan, Alternative Hero on Tonight’s CP

It’s the Bob Dylan, Alternative Hero show on tonight’s Capital Punishment. Mr. Dylan’s prolific songbook has been covered by many other artists over the decades, including some of our fave alternative bands. We’ll hear reinterpretations of iconic Dylan tunes by Beck, Bad Religion, the Pogues, David Bowie and Warren Zevon, just to name a few, plus maybe a rendition of something or other by Jimi Hendrix and an appearance by The Man himself.

I hope you can join us tonight at 9 pm Eastern, 8 pm Central and 6 pm Pacific, repeat at midnight/11 pm/9 pm and again Sunday at 9 am/8 am and 6 am.

Italo Disco on Tonight’s CP

It’s the long-awaited Italo Disco show on tonight’s Capital Punishment. Italo Disco was genre of electronic dance music that developed in the 1980s, in parallel to the New Wave synth sound we all know and love. Don’t let the name fool you. The bands were from all over, not just Italy, and the music doesn’t resemble that synthetic disco schlock from the 70s. I’d define the sound as a mix of Human League and ABBA with some Giuseppe Verdi thrown in for good measure. There are ridiculous lyrics, over the top vocals and killer bass lines, all you need for pop perfection.

I hope you can join us tonight at 9 pm Eastern, 8 pm Central and 6 pm Pacific, repeat at midnight/11 pm/9 pm and again Sunday at 9 am/8 am and 6 am.

Hey You Kids Get Off My Lawn on Tonight’s CP

It’s another Hey You Kids Get Off My Lawn show on tonight’s Capital Punishment, in which we’ll hear music from contemporary alternative bands (“Kids” meaning anyone under 50 years old.) We’ve got some great tunes from the likes of Middle Kids, Alvvays, lovelytheband, Hockey Dad and the Horrors, to name just a few. I hope you can join us tonight at 9 pm Eastern, 8 pm Central and 6 pm Pacific, repeat at midnight/11 pm/9 pm and again Sunday at 9 am/8 am and 6 am.

4th of July on Tonight’s Capital Punishment

We’re on the Beach on Tonight’s Capital Punishment

After lasting for around eight months or so, winter is finally gone. Now it’s time to get outdoors and cop some rays, and where best to do that than the beach. Tonight’s Capital Punishment is titled “We’re on the Beach”, and as the name indicates, we’ll be playing tunes about, well, the beach. We have covers of New Wave Faves Echo Beach and He’s on the Beach, punk-y takes on Beach Boys songs, plus the coolest version of Don’t Worry Baby that you’ve never heard before.

So grab the tanning butter and join us tonight at 9 pm Eastern, 8 pm Central and 6 pm Pacific, repeat at midnight/11 pm/9 pm and again Sunday at 9 am/8 am and 6 am.
